Professional Experience


Attorney Rakia Turner joined Lively Law Firm in 2023 to focus on removal defense in our Master Calendar Hearing Department. She uses her passion for helping people as well as her vast experience to ensure her clients receive the best possible defense. Moreover, she uses her ability to speak Spanish and French to facilitate seamless communication and comfortability. 


Prior to joining the firm, Rakia lived in Switzerland and practiced as Senior Legal Counsel for WaterLex, a company specializing in human rights and sanitation. During her time there, she advised governments and national human rights organizations on human rights and sustainable development through law and policy reform. After returning to the US, she then served as Legal Counsel at Catholic Charities. 


Education


Rakia earned her Undergrad and Juris Doctorate at the University of North Carolina and earned her Masters of Law in International Humanitarian Law from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. As a student, she also studied abroad in Ecuador.

Fun Facts


During her off hours, Rakia loves to travel and has spent time in countries like Russia and Brazil. Additionally, she loves to spend time with her daughter and practice Urban Kiz style dancing.
