Personal Experience

Lauren Schenkel is an attorney with Lively Law Firm whose practice focuses on deportation defense and relief through humanitarian visas. Lauren has dedicated her education and career to helping survivors of violence and trafficking. Specifically, Lauren specializes in U visas, T visas, VAWA applications, and 601A waivers. She also attends Master Calendar Hearings and prepares for and attends final hearings for asylum and 42B cases. Lauren brings her passion for supporting victims of sexual assault and abuse and for achieving justice to each of her cases.


Lauren graduated with honors from the Emory University School of Law. During her time at law school, Lauren affirmed her commitment to philanthropy by volunteering in her spare time. She was actively involved in the Emory Public Interest Committee, Student Legal Services, and several community organizations. Moreover, she co-founded the Emory Law Coalition Against Human Trafficking at her law school to support victims of trafficking and spread awareness of the issue. 


After graduating with honors from the Emory University School of Law, Lauren worked for three years at the DeKalb County Solicitor's Office handling misdemeanor criminal cases before joining Lively Law Firm. She has devoted countless hours to working with survivors both in the community and the courtroom. Lauren has spent her career submitting motions and presenting cases before judges so she brings a unique and valuable perspective to each one of her cases. 


Lauren understands the complexities involved in obtaining justice for victims of violence and trafficking, particularly in the immigration context. She works hard to ensure that her clients are prepared for their day in court and presents the best case possible.

Education

Lauren graduated with honors from Emory University School of Law. Before law school, she graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in crime and justice.

Fun Facts

When not advocating for abuse and survivor victims and fighting for her clients, Lauren enjoys making polymer clay earrings and exploring various other arts and crafts activities. Lauren also enjoys baking cakes and other treats, visiting local art fairs with her husband, and playing with her energetic rescue dog.
